Chilpancingo, Gro., October 6, 2024.- In a gesture of solidarity and responsibility, the 64th Legislature of Guerrero is studying the possibility of donating a month’s salary to support those affected by the rains of Hurricane John.
In an interview, the vice-president Jesús Euhenio Uriostegui García, president of JUCOPO, pointed out that in times of crisis like the one Guerrero is suffering, where too much rain has affected many families, the helping hand of those who are representatives of citizens in the country. He explained that these types of initiatives always cause several reactions among the people, who expect a real commitment from their representatives in situations like the one they are experiencing.
Uriostegui García, who has been one of the main promoters of the proposal, said that the discussions within the Political Coordination Board are on the right track to make it happen.

The deputy head is right when he highlights the importance of establishing a clear and transparent scheme to ensure that resources are managed clearly and reach those who really need them.

He said that aid promises that are not fulfilled or withdrawn cause irreparable damage to the credibility of the institutions.
“We must not ignore that, since Friday last week, the esplanade of the State Congress has become a food production center, from which hundreds of containers go to the various shelters to send state government in Chilpancingo,” he said.
This action, he said, shows that the Legislature is taking immediate steps to reduce the impact of the natural disaster, although the financial contribution is still being discussed.
He pointed out that delivering food to those in the shelters not only shows a gesture of good will from the messengers, but also the challenge of properly managing an emergency.
It should be noted, in addition, that the team of Deputy Jesús Uriostegui has delivered mattresses and blankets to those who needed them at the time the shelters opened and when people arrived with nothing more on what they were wearing.
And in some places they supported with retro excavators and trucks, to open streets and remove the earth and mud.
Loyalty politics is fundamental and must be at the right times.
Surely hundreds of people will be grateful for the food, and for the help in cleaning the streets in this very complicated situation, where friendly hands of different natures came together.
Finally, he pointed out that the people of Guerrero will pay attention to the other actions taken by their representatives in the local Congress, in the hope that there will be more concrete events that will continue to benefit those who need it the most.
It remains to be seen whether a donation of a month’s salary will materialize next week and, more importantly, how they will reach their destination.
At the same time, the commitment of legislators must remain firm not only in times of crisis, but in every decision that affects the lives of the people of Guerrero.
