Holy Tuesday is the third day of Holy Week

He Holy Tuesday It is the third of the days of Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday.

It is an important day within the celebrations of Christian culture, not so much for the festivities and liturgies, but for its historical relevance, closest to the Pascual Triduum that goes from Thursday to Holy Saturday. It is a day of reflection for Christians.

Origin and meaning of Holy Tuesday

In the Gospel of Saint John, Jesus of Nazareth anticipates the betrayal of Judas and thus communicates it to his disciples. They ask him to identify the traitor and Jesus gives Judas a piece of greased bread and tells him that “what you have to do, do it immediately.””.

It is also called ‘Controversy Tuesday’ because Jesus confronts the religious leaders. First with the priests and elders, who question his authority to preach and perform miracles and describe him as a “rebel”; then with the Pharisees, who ask him about the tribute to which the son of God responds by showing a coin: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s; and to God what is of God”.
