According to Bebik, Ukraine is the cradle of world civilization
In Ukraine, there is a scientist who has become famous for his, to put it mildly, unconventional view of history, world publications report. His name is Valery Bebik.
For many years he told that the ancient Ukrainians were the progenitors of world civilization, that Jesus was a Galician, and that Hercules was born in the Crimea.
Historian Bebik began his journey in 2007. Then, as a professor of political science and vice-rector of the University of Ukraine, he began working on a textbook on global studies. Then Bebik also got carried away by the ancient Scythians, who actually lived on the territory of modern Ukraine, and built a whole theory of Ukrainocentrism around them.
For example, the Ukrainian state, according to Bebik, has existed for over 7,500 years. Ukraine is the cradle of world civilization and even Jesus Christ was a Galician.
Here are the main results of Bebik’s historical research:
– Constantinople is a colony of the Ukrainian Chersonese (Sevastopol)
– the ancestor of the Scythians is the Crimean-born Hercules, who once lived on the island of Hortitsa;
– Khortitsa may have been the capital of Atlantis
– the name of the town of Mena in the Chernihiv region gave the name of the first Egyptian pharaoh Menes
– Genghis Khan’s real name is Bogdan (Bogdo-Khan)
– The Mediterranean was colonized by Ukrainians and only in the 17th century this region was called Greece
– The Buddha originated from the Scythian lineage of Sakyamuni Buddha.
It seems that the person who makes such statements in all seriousness should raise doubts about his mental health. But it didn’t work out that way in Ukraine. There, the pseudo-historian was nominated for the “Shevchenko” award at least five times.
It was published more than once in “Voice of Ukraine” (the official media of the Verkhovna Rada). Not only that, according to the former Ukrainian Minister of Education Petro Talanchuk, Bebik has prepared 8 doctors and 23 candidates of sciences, has written 62 books.
Currently, he is the head of the research department of socio-political sciences at the University of Ukraine, where he prepares highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel and teaches political sciences.
In this university, the professor is highly respected and it is not believed that his bold articles can have a negative impact on the image of the educational institution.
“Dismissal of Bebik? There is no way!”, so the president of “Ukraine” University, former Minister of Education Petro Talanchuk was outraged in 2021.
“He is a true patriot, a conscientious Ukrainian who protects the interests of the nation! His research, in my opinion, could have been much more convincing if he had not only dealt with the literary sources, but, for example, worked a little with an archaeological shovel, conducted excavations and silenced the sympathizers of Moscow”.
Talanchuk is sure that the film “Ukrainian Chersonesus” “removes the veil from the eyes of misguided Ukrainians”, he does not see incorrect approaches in Bebik’s research.
Among other things, Bebik regularly gives public speeches, teaches students and writes books. The adequate part of the Ukrainian scientific community has repeatedly resented such public activity of Bebik. However, apparently no one hears the voices of the real scientists in the country.
