London, Sep 12 (EFE).- Jesse Lingard, who is free after finishing his contract with Nottingham Forest, has joined West Ham United training with the aim of being offered a contract.
Lingard, who was at the club from the youth system until 2022, enjoyed a great six-month loan spell with West Ham in the 2020-2021 season. With the ‘Hammers’, he played 16 games, scored nine goals and provided six assists, in addition to regaining his best form in years.
“He’s very good,” David Moyes said on TalkSport radio this Tuesday. “He’s much better than when he came the first time. When he came two years ago I think he was the difference for us getting into Europe. I want to give him every opportunity I can to get fit and let’s see how he can do it.”
“There is no news at the moment, other than to say that he is back and is very close to the levels of form you would expect him to be at,” added the Scottish coach.
Last season with Forest, Lingard made 20 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals. In his best year at Manchester United, the 2017-2018 season, he scored thirteen goals in 48 games. EFE
