Earlier Sunday, Jerv announced that they had signed Sonni Nattestad. Late Sunday night, the club announces that the contract has been canceled.
– FK Jerv and Sonni Nattestad have today decided to cancel the announced contract. The background is an issue the player has been involved in, and which we should have been aware of, the club writes on its own website.
– The case Nattestad was involved in is not something we as a club can vouch for or be associated with. FK Jerv would like to apologize to all concerned that we did not do a good enough job prior to the signing, they write further.
The case Jerv refers to is the much talked about rape case against former Molde player Babacar Sarr, where Nattestad was to testify in the trial.
Nattestad did not show up and chose to prioritize playing a training match. This led to the trial being postponed. The case never came up because Sarr fled the country.
This led to a boil on social media when Jerv announced the signing earlier in the day.
The stopper from the Faroe Islands has played football both in Denmark and most recently in Ireland for Dundalk. He also has experience from Molde and Aalesund.
