Jerry Jones ‘shocked’ by Cowboys’ heavy defeat

The very heavy 47-9 defeat suffered by the Dallas Cowboys at the hands of the Detroit Lions on Sunday left a very bitter taste in the mouth of team owner Jerry Jones.

In fact, the Texan team had never suffered such a significant loss since 1989, the year the 82-year-old bought the club. In interview with the media present on site after the meeting Jones did not go out of his way to describe the discomfiture that his club suffered.

“It was very concerning and very humiliating, and I felt bad because of all of our great fans, and especially the ones in the stadium, and certainly the ones that revolve around the Cowboys. So we have a lot of work to do,” he said.

“I’m glad we have this week off coming up,” the businessman continued. This will give everyone a chance to get out and really practice. Practice is what is necessary in order to have a more successful match than this one. It was shocking.”

That said, Jones made it clear that he is not currently planning to fire his head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Cowboys have yet to win a single game at their home stadium of AT&T Stadium since the season began. They are currently in third place in the Eastern section of the National with a record of 3-3.
