Jeroen Rietbergen is shocked about the decision of the Public Prosecution Service to prosecute him for his behavior at The Voice of Holland. Linda de Mol’s former partner is accused of raping a candidate at the talent show in 2018.
Rietbergen denies that. According to the show’s bandleader, he has not engaged in any criminal offenses such as coercion, assault or rape. He finds the OM’s decision incomprehensible and “a very heavy blow”.
According to Rietbergen’s lawyer, the report and the interview of the Voice candidate show that there was no coercion in the contact with Rietbergen.
“At no time did the declarant state that she was forced to do anything by Rietbergen, in fact, the declarant unmistakably indicates that there was no question of coercion,” says lawyer Plasman in a written statement. He therefore finds it incomprehensible that the Public Prosecution Service deduces from the woman’s statements that there was indeed coercion.
At the beginning of 2022, Rietbergen was accused of sexually transgressive behaviour. After admitting that, he left as bandleader at The Voice.
Ali B
Ali B is also being prosecuted following three reports of rape and assault in 2014 and 2018. One of those cases has a link with The Voice. A fourth declaration has been filed.
In a response, the rapper says that he is happy that one of the cases has been dropped. He also says he is surprised that he is being prosecuted in the other cases. The singer says that he is in talks with the women who have filed a report.
Marco Borsato
Marco Borsato was also investigated, but his case was dropped due to a lack of evidence to support the report. Marco Borsato has also been charged with a case that is not related to The Voice of Holland. A separate investigation is underway into this, the outcome of which is not yet known.
Marco Borsato, through his lawyer Knoops, says he is happy that he is not being prosecuted. He doesn’t want to say anything more about it.
