Jeroen Olyslaegers about new novel “Wildevrouw”: “I hope that young people discover the 16th century”

In “Wildevrouw” the innkeeper Bear is the narrator. In “The world today” on Radio 1, Jeroen Olyslaegers explains why: “It’s very simple. The world comes together in an inn, especially at that time.” The author found inspiration in another book, “The Mandement of Bacchus” by Paul Verhuyck and Corine Kisling. It describes no less than 82 inns from the year 1580 in Antwerp, complete with the names of innkeepers and which wines and beers were served. “That book was a gold mine. Then I left.”
