Exception trial or memorandum of defense of musician I Gede Ari Astina alias Jerinx alluded to the figure of a big boss who was said to have a level above the President, and had asked for money worth Rp. 10-15 billion as a condition for revocation of reports on alleged threats against Adam Deni.
This statement was conveyed by Jerinx’s attorney, Sugeng Teguh Santoso, when reading his client’s memorandum of objection in the trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (22/12).
“In the meeting, the AD [Adam Deni, palapor Jerinx] also said that the bosses have power over the president. Even the AD said if for example he killed someone, the next day he would be free from the snares of the law,” said Sugeng.
Sugeng said that the big figure was revealed in a meeting between his client and Adam Deni as a reporter at a hotel in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta on 19 November.
The meeting was originally held as an effort to reconcile or make peace between Jerinx and Adam Deni who reported the Balinese musician on suspicion of threatening him. During the meeting, Adam had asked for Rp15 billion as a condition for withdrawing the report.
However, the figure was negotiated by Jerinx because it was considered too large. Giving a maximum offer of Rp. 10 billion, Jerinx said Sugeng still objected. To Adam, Jerinx was only able to give a figure of Rp. 4 billion in the form of his land in Bali.
However, Jerinx’s offer was rejected. To Jerinx, Adam reasoned that the Rp10 billion figure had been maximized because of the big boss’s request.
“Hearing the figure of Rp. 10 billion, the defendant stated that he did not have that much funds, but the defendant offered the defendant’s land in Pecatu for Rp. 4 billion to withdraw the report, but it was rejected with the reason that BOSS BOSS behind it wanted Rp. 10 billion,” said Sugeng.
The meeting between Jerinx and his father and Adam took place at the Raffles Hotel Kuningan on November 19, 2021. The meeting was part of the implementation of restorative justice, which is an approach that focuses on conditions for creating justice and balance for perpetrators and victims.
Jerinx was tried for allegedly making violent threats against Adam Deni Gearaka. He was charged with violating Article 29 Jo Article 45 B of the ITE Law and Article 27 paragraph (4) Jo Article 45 paragraph (4) of the ITE Law.
