Jerez Public Services Satisfaction Barometer: 87% Positive Opinions and Overall Improvement

Jerez, with 87% positive opinions, has improved the results obtained in the previous barometer of the Urban Services Observatory (OSUR), and after three consecutive editions with the worst percentage of satisfaction and with the highest number of dissatisfied.

According to the studythe people of Jerez value the effort and improvement in the services offered by the city, with notable increases in the level of satisfaction in all of them except for street cleaning, which has dropped two points -in the general ranking, Jerez falls from second to twelfth place-, according to the results of the study carried out by OSUR with its V Barometer of satisfaction with public services, in the 30 most populous municipalities in the country.

The national average in overall satisfaction with municipal public services stands at 74%, 10 percentage points below the results of Jerez

It should be noted that the benefits of public transport and water supply improve their results both in satisfaction and in unfavorable opinions. Garbage collection and street cleaning worsen the perception of citizens and both lose three points in the degree of satisfaction; while the care of parks and gardens has continued to improve as in the previous year.

In order of valuation we find public transport first, clearly favored by the general policies of making it cheaper and free – it has gone from 75% of Jerez residents satisfied with the service to 89%, which represents 11% above the national average. There is no aspect of the service that gets less than 80 satisfaction points.

Water supply remains the second best servicewith a very high 84% satisfaction, 3 percentage points above the national average (81%), and 6% more than in 2022. The aspect that most satisfies those surveyed is operational management (pressure, continuity of service, meter operation, etc.), with 86% satisfaction, followed by the quality of the water supplied, with 85% favorable opinions.

The care of parks and gardens and conservation of public spaces and sports facilities It has continued to improve and achieves 76% satisfaction, and only 18% dissatisfaction. These figures consolidate the change of direction given last year to stop being the worst rated city service among the 30 cities analyzed.

Garbage and waste collection service, which last year obtained a brilliant 79% of positive opinions, fell back to 76%, an evolution contrary to the general sensation that, even so, maintains this Jerez service 8 points above the national average. The most valued is the frequency of the service with 72% and the endowment and equipment with 70%

Finally, street cleaning, without reaching suspense, is once again the red lantern of services in Jerez. It goes back 3 points to a meager 68% satisfied, in line with the national average. Where the service has been penalized the most is in the frequency of cleaning streets and sidewalks and in the collection of pet excrement.

For Lorenzo Dávila, general director of OSUR: “Despite the fact that Jerez de la Frontera has maintained the level of effort in the management of its municipal public services, even managing to surpass itself in all services, except for street cleaning, the boost given by the elections in the rest of Spanish town halls has made it lose weight in the general ranking and drop from second to twelfth place. Taking into account that Jerez appeared in the caboose after the pandemic, this is not a bad fact, especially if we consider that the citizens have been able to appreciate the improvement in all aspects. Perhaps in street cleaning you should make a greater effort since it is the only service that loses satisfaction in the public, without having a bad result “

The results of this fifth edition of the Barometer are the result of an ODC survey of 5,200 people carried out between April 12 and May 12, which seeks to reflect the opinion of citizens regarding their municipal public services, in the 30 most populated in the country: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Alicante, Córdoba, Valladolid, Vigo, Gijón, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vitoria, A Coruña , Granada, Elche, Oviedo, Terrassa, Badalona, Cartagena, Jerez de la Frontera, Sabadell, Móstoles, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pamplona and Alcalá de Henares
