Jeremy Renner talks about his snow plow accident and recovery on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Actor Jeremy Renner, best known for his roles in “The Avengers” and “The Hurt Locker,” made his first late-night appearance since a recent accident on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” thanks to the host’s persistence. The actor was seriously injured after a stunt went wrong on the set of his upcoming movie “McClane.” However, Renner was determined to keep his commitment to appear on Kimmel’s show, so the host arranged a special segment featuring the actor in his home. Let’s dive into how Kimmel managed to get Renner to appear on his show and what we can expect from the show itself.

Jeremy Renner returned to late-night TV on Monday evening when he visited the set of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” just after his taped interview with Diane Sawyer. The “Avengers” cast member spoke about his horrific New Year’s Day accident with a massive snow plow near his home in the Lake Tahoe region of Nevada. He said he broke “35 or so” bones when he was pulled under the enormous vehicle but still considers himself very lucky. “It missed every vertebra, didn’t hit any organs, my brain didn’t swell, nothing like that. My eye did pop out, that’s weird but yeah … I got very lucky that none of the organs got messed up,” the “Hurt Locker” actor said.

He also mentioned that Kimmel, who had access to Renner’s chart, corrected him a bit, saying he did have damage to his liver and a lung. Renner replied with a laugh, “Yeah, that’s fine. I got another one.” Renner called his first ICU “a haunted house,” and he said he intends to go back there to apologize to all the nurses. Renner’s mother read to him while he was laid up, thinking it would be soothing, but the book she chose was written by Stephen King, which freaked him the hell out.

Renner said he knew he was in rough shape when everyone from his past kept texting him. He joked that pals like Chris Evans were terrible actors because they couldn’t hide the fact that he looked awful. Paul Rudd stopped by the hospital a few times, he said, and even made him a fake Cameo video. He later joked about how he’s lost some weight and quit smoking, thanks, in a weird way, to almost getting killed by a snow plow.

He also got serious, detailing the horrific feeling of being aware that his nephew witnessed the accident, and was stuck seeing his uncle with his eyeball hanging out for 45 minutes. He also did a little promo for “Rennervations,” his upcoming reality series for Disney+. Ironically enough, it’s a show about fixing large vehicles. Let’s hope there’s nothing in there about a snow plow.

Kimmel introduced the two-time Oscar nominee as “The Indestructible Jeremy Renner,” who came out with a cane and a smile. Armed with stories from the hospital (the robes he was forced to wear were “gross”), Renner said he broke his arms six times and his back three times, among other injuries. He also mentioned that he had to sign some very alarming release forms. “Nobody wants to go to a hospital. And then when you see a release form that says they’re gonna remove body parts if they have to, it’s like, ‘Yeah, can I get another hospital?’” he said.

In conclusion, it’s heartwarming to see Jeremy Renner back on our screens and in good spirits following his recent accident. We can all agree that Jimmy Kimmel’s hospitality and humor played a significant part in easing Renner back into the spotlight. It’s been a difficult year for many, and it’s moments like these that remind us of the power of human connection and the importance of having friends who have our backs. As we bid farewell to this article, let’s all take a moment to appreciate the positivity that Jeremy Renner and Jimmy Kimmel brought to our lives and look forward to seeing them collaborate in the future.
