Ahn Se-young, from Naju, Jeollanam-do, won the gold medal in the women’s singles at the 2023 World Individual Badminton Championships held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and returned home in gold.

It is the first time that a Korean player has won the singles event at the World Championships, which began in 1977.

Ahn Se-young started learning badminton in earnest after discovering her talent while working at a badminton club following her father, who was the secretary general of the Naju City Sports Association.
