Jeollanam-do promotes precise safety inspection of buildings for private apartments in the area where the Muryangpan construction method is applied, which is causing controversy over the so-called ‘barely killed apartment’ nationwide.
This safety inspection was carried out in April to relieve anxiety about the ceiling construction method that supports the ceiling with pillars without beams. .
A total of 10 locations are subject to inspection, including Yeosu (3 completed), Muan (2 completed/1 in construction), Suncheon (2 completed), and Gwangyang/Yeonggwang (1 completed), all of which are underground parking lots.
One site in Yeosu and one site in Damyang, where the Muryangpan construction method was reflected only in the design and construction has not started, will be inspected when construction begins later.
Jeollanam-do started a preemptive self-inspection when the safety problem of the Muryangpan underground parking lot in Geomdan-gu, Incheon arose.
Safety inspections will be conducted by September 18 when the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport completes the selection of specialized safety diagnosis institutions, and the inspection results will be announced nationwide around October.
Jeollanam-do plans to immediately issue a reinforcement work order to the construction company if a problem with the safety of the building is identified as a result of the inspection.
