Jeollanam-do Province announced on the 30th that it will begin the ‘Jeonnam-style 10,000 won housing’ project, the first in the country, starting next year to actively respond to the problem of population decline and local disappearance.
The Jeonnam-type 10,000-won housing project is a housing policy tailored to the youth, announced by South Jeolla Province Governor Kim Young-rok on the 6th.
It is a policy to build new houses with an exclusive area of 84 m2 (32 pyeong) or less for newlyweds and houses with an exclusive area of 60 m2 (17 pyeong) or less for young people and provide them for 10,000 won per month without a deposit for up to 10 years.
Jeonnam Province plans to sequentially build 100 to 200 houses per year in basic local governments classified as depopulation areas by 2035.
The local governments targeted for the project are 16 counties out of 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, excluding Mokpo, Suncheon, Yeosu, Naju, and Muan.
Jeonnam Province announced that since the announcement of the Jeonnam-style 100-won housing project, the department has been inundated with calls of support, asking for encouragement and expansion.
Jeonnam Province is strengthening communication with officials from the 16 counties where Jeonnam-style packed houses will be supplied. Starting with a military manager-level meeting on the 15th, weekly stakeholder meetings involving Jeonnam Development Corporation and others are being held to closely monitor the business direction and share related information.
In addition, in order to create a housing welfare model that is warm and one step closer to residents, we toured residential welfare centers in Seoul, Incheon, and Gwangju and exchanged opinions on management plans with officials. Jeonnam Province announced that it would create the Jeonnam Province Housing Welfare Center, a dedicated maintenance organization, to ensure that young people do not experience any minor inconveniences in their residential life after the construction of the Jeonnam-style packed houses.
Cho Byeong-seop, head of the Jeonnam Province Architectural Development Department, said, “We will do our best to ensure that the Jeonnam-type 10,000-won housing project serves as a housing ladder for young people to own their own homes.” He added, “Jeonnam Province will support and support the young people’s dream of owning their own home.”
