Coach Kim Sang-sik (44) is the first player to hold the Jeonbuk baton.
On the 22nd, Jeonbuk announced that coach Kim Sang-sik was internally promoted to coach and appointed as the team’s sixth command tower.
Jeonbuk judged that coach Kim Sang-sik was the best person to be able to embody the team’s philosophy better than anyone else, with excellent ability to command and run the team.
Coach Kim Sang-sik, who joined Jeonbuk in 2009 and played an active role as a player and coach since 2014, has been in Jeonbuk Hyundai for 12 years and is evaluated as a person with a higher understanding of the team than anyone else.
From the first year of his transfer from Seongnam to Jeonbuk in 2009, coach Kim Sang-sik played a pivotal role as a captain, leading Jeonbuk to the first league championship.
Coach Kim, who worked as a coach by assisting coach Choi Kang-hee in 2014 after making a big success as a player until 2013, showed outstanding ability in the role of a bridge between players and managers and leadership that encompasses juniors.
In particular, after coach Choi Kang-hee left for China in 2018, he appreciated the efforts he devoted to the team while maintaining the balance so that the squad will not be shaken by sudden changes.
New coach Kim Sang-sik said, “Jeonbuk is my team. As a member of the Jeonbuk Hyundai team, not as a manager, I will devote myself so that the team can develop.” I believe in the ability of the team and players called Jeonbuk.”
Meanwhile, the press conference for the new director Kim Sang-sik will be held online on the morning of the 23rd.
After the team gathered on January 8, 2021, the 2021 season begins with winter training in Namhae from 11 to 29.
