Jenny May Opens Up About Bulimia in ‘Elephant in the Studio’ Interview

Asked if she has ever been criticized for anorexia or another disease, Maya says: “I have had bulimia. [..] It was really traumatic. I felt bad about it. I felt bad that I had bulimia, and that’s when I started getting compliments on how good I look,” the stage artist shares her experience with eating disorders.

At the beginning of her career, she was already very slim, but people commented in the comments “that she should be a little thinner”.

“Although I was around 47 kilograms at the time. Then I started bulimia, when I thought that I was not completely acceptable to someone,” says Maija.

Maija also recalls an episode from her life: “A friend once asked: “How did you always look good?” I wanted to shake my heart out and told her, “I have bulimia.” Then a tragedy happened, because she thought – wow, a very good method, basically free of charge, and she also tried it. I felt so bad that I even told anyone. After that I kept it a secret.”
