American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on their second wedding anniversary, according to the Associated Press.
The divorce petition was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, ending a famous relationship that captured the media’s attention for several years and surprised many.
The two, known early as “Bennifer,” were an example of famous duos in the world of popular culture, according to the Associated Press.
TMZ magazine reported that Lopez listed the separation date as April 26, 2024, adding that she did not mention any previous divorce agreement.
After meeting and falling in love in the early 2000s, getting engaged, and appearing together in the films “Gigli” in 2003 and “Jersey Girl” in 2004, the two separated due to the pressure of the attention of the media.
However, to the delight of many and perhaps the doubts of some, they met again after two decades and married twice in 2022.
“Love is beautiful. Love is good. And it seems that love is patient. Patient for twenty years,” Lopez wrote in announcing their first marriage in Las Vegas in July of the same year.
She said it was “the happiest moment of my life.
The following month, the couple held a larger wedding at Affleck’s home in Georgia, with friends and family in attendance.
It should be noted that both of them were previously married. Affleck, 52, was married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, from 2005 to 2018. As for Lopez, 55, she was married three times before that.
Along the way, Lopez was more vocal about her visit with Affleck. When asked about how difficult it is to deal with relationships in her life, she admitted that she sometimes felt doubts and pressure.
Lopez is currently preparing to appear in the movie “Unstoppable,” and has postponed her 2024 North American tour to be with her family and friends.
Her last album, “This Is Me…. Now”, was inspired by her relationship with Affleck, and the accompanying film shows one person’s journey to find love.
