Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, the two Hollywood stars who married two decades after their famous separation, will divorce, TMZ and other media reported on Tuesday.
Divorce papers
TMZ reported that Lopez, who sang “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” filed divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday.
The divorce filing came two years to the day after the couple held a lavish wedding ceremony in Georgia. They first exchanged vows in July 2022 at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas.
Spokespeople for Lopez and Affleck did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Focus attention
In the early 2000s, the couple, known as Bennifer, were at the center of the celebrity world’s attention in a relationship that featured their luxury cars and massive 6.1-carat pink diamond engagement ring.
They suddenly called off their marriage in 2003 and divorced a few months later.
Lopez married Latin singer Marc Anthony, her third husband, just five months after her 2004 split from Affleck.
Affleck, the director and star of the Oscar-winning film “Argo”, married and later divorced actress Jennifer Garner.
The biggest heartbreak
Lopez and Affleck started dating again in 2021, months after breaking up with basketball star Alex Rodriguez, ending their four-year relationship.
Lopez later said that her first breakup with Affleck was “the biggest heartbreak of my life.”
She said in an interview with Apple Music in November 2022, “Honestly I felt like I was going to die.” But now, 20 years later, he has a happy ending. “
