Jennifer Lopez Changes Tour Format Amid Weak Ticket Sales

She may be a superstar with a career spanning almost thirty years, but interest in her upcoming tour is so weak that Jennifer Lopez (54) has to take drastic measures.

Weeks ago it was reported that seven dates of her concert series were canceled from the tour, because the American pop star did not lose the tickets to the paving stones. And it just became known that Lopez is also giving the tour itself a different name.

The concert series was announced as the This is me… now tour, a reference to her new album, which was released last Valentine’s Day. But that musical comeback left Lopez with a serious musical hangover. She invested $20 million in the record, but only managed to sell 14,000 copies in the first week of its release in America. So that’s a huge flop. Under that star she already knew that interest in her performances would be moderate. And that quickly turned out to be the case.

Her first major tour in five years now has a different format: a live show with greatest hits. Lopez has built up a strong hit list in recent years, and it is expected that she will attract more concertgoers if she makes more use of her old material. The tour kicks off on June 26 in Orlando and has thirty shows scheduled in the United States through the third week of August.
