Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are getting divorced

Bennifer-shippers all over the world will mourn today; Jennifer Lopez has namely to want to apply divorce her husband Ben Affleckaccording to legal documents seen by several international media.

Jennifer Lopez ends her marriage to Ben Affleck

Two years after Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck pledged eternal fidelity, Jennifer is now ending their relationship. Whether or not that was her decision, we don’t know, but she is the one who filed for divorce in the LA County Courthouse. The news doesn’t come as a complete shock. There were already rumors in June that Ben was no longer living in their shared home and Jennifer’s mother reportedly told her to divorce Ben. What exactly made her decide to file for divorce is unclear, but her mother’s attempt did work.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are married in community of property

Jennifer does not want spousal support and has asked the judge that Ben not apply for it either. The next step in the divorce is for Jennifer’s attorney to notify Ben’s attorney with a copy of the application and then sign it and actually end the marriage. Both parties must share financial information, including their current income, expenses, assets, and possible debts.

Although she states in the documents that they have been apart since April 26, 2024, the date of her divorce filing – August 20 – is quite telling. August 20, 2022 is the date that she and Ben had their grand wedding in Georgia. Quite a symbolic detail. What is perhaps even more striking is that the divorce documents say nothing about a prenuptial agreement. This would mean that everything that both Jennifer and Ben earned during their marriage falls under community property. This would therefore have to be divided. Apparently the couple thought that this bond would last forever; romantic, but not exactly realistic, as it turns out.
