“I also wanted to share it here after some really touching posts from others who are also affected by this. In addition, I sometimes feel a taboo about being vulnerable as a parent,” Jennifer writes. Since the accident, her ‘feelers’ have been constantly on alert and that is ‘extremely exhausting’, according to the concerned mother.

In the meantime, the fear has taken over her life to such an extent that she recently jumped into the water during a fit of mental bewilderment with her telephone and all when her son Ben – with straps on – jumped into the pool. According to Jennifer, there was a short circuit in her head at that time, while nothing was wrong.
Partly for this reason, she will start next week with EMDR, a therapy for people who continue to suffer from the consequences of a shocking experience, such as an accident, sexual violence or a violent incident. She continues: ‘Hope those sharpest edges will come off, because Ben was more shocked by my reaction than by the cold water.’
