Jennifer Aniston ‘forgives father for walking out on her as a child’

Jennifer Aniston has forgiven her father for walking out on her when she was a child and the pair are now spending more time together than ever before following a reconciliation.

The 51-year-old Friends star reportedly needed therapy to cope with abandonment issues after her 86-year-old father John Aniston split from Jen’s late mother Nancy Dow when the sitcom star was just nine-years-old.

But the global coronavirus pandemic has put life into perspective and the pair have now reconciled and are enjoying daily phone calls, according to friends.

The Daily Mail reports that Jen took steps to heal old wounds when the COVID-19 virus began disrupting life across the globe.

They quote a source close to John as saying: “Jen forgave her father for walking out a long time ago. But their relationship has had its ups and downs.”

They continued: “Jennifer didn’t speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just brief conversations.”

The source added: “It’s like she has realised life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He’s thrilled that they have reconciled.”

John is a veteran actor himself and is well known in the USA for playing Victor Kiriakis in the long running soap Days of Our Lives – a role he has played since 1985.

He married model and actress Nancy Dow in 1965, with Jennifer born to the couple in February 1969.

Nancy passed away in 2016 aged 79, having suffered two strokes previously in 2011 and 2012.

The Mail quote Jen recalling her father “was gone” when she returned from a friend’s birthday party when she was a child.

She describes reuniting with her father, saying: “[My father] was not a good communicator… but, as best he could, he explained and apologised, and it’s enough. We’ve made up. There’s still parts that are hard for me, but I’m an adult. I can’t blame my parents any more.”

Jennifer also had a falling out with her mother for 15 years after Nancy wrote a tell all book about the actress when she became famous on the show Friends.

The pair reconciled before Nancy’s death.

Meanwhile, the cast of friends are set to reunite this year for a special episode of the long-running sitcom, 16 years after it came off the air.

Filming for the special has, however, been thrown into chaos due to the coronavirus pandemic, although show bosses hope to create an interim episode over Zoom to tide fans over to the main reunion spectacular.
