“I just didn’t have time to sleep,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. “I had to be on set two hours in advance. Then I worked a day from 12 to 14 hours, and when I got home I immediately had to open a Zoom to take some class.” Jenna took fencing lessons and cello lessons to bring her character from ‘The Addams Family’ to life. “I worked seven days a week. I didn’t sleep a wink anymore, and it took its toll. I cried and pulled my hair out in frustration. My dad recorded countless FaceTime calls that left me crying hysterically.”
In her own words, her director, Burton, was very helpful. “He didn’t want me to be under too much stress. But I was a perfectionist and I was afraid I wouldn’t perform well without those lessons. Moreover, he was still quite demanding. The Rolling Stones song I play in the sequence – “Paint it Black” – is normally for two cellos. I had to play it on one instrument.”
