Jelly Bean Meets Mario Kart: An Inside Look at Stampede’s Racing Royale

We recently caught up with Stampede from Sumo Leamington: Racing Royale’s Development Director, Paul Hollywood. In the simplest terms, Hollywood describes the game as“Jelly Bean Meets Mario Kart”. .

The gameplay works like this: You start the first round with 60 players, and by the end of the round, the player pool is reduced to 40, leaving a third of your competitors behind. In the second round, we jumped from 40 players to 20 and into the third and final round.

“It seemed like an obvious and simple idea,”Hollywood said, referring to when the studio showed an early version, and people wondered why it hadn’t been done before.“But sometimes these simple ideas are missed because they are so simple.

Hollywood also emphasized that even if Sumo Leamington enters the game as a service space, the team doesn’t want to give players an extra edge for the money they spend.“It’s very exciting and it’s very important that we can play freely,” he said.He said.“We don’t want our players to feel disadvantaged because they haven’t spent enough money. So all the monetization in Rodeo Royale is cosmetic. It’s about showing off, it’s about being diverse at Rodeo Express your personality in the universe.

Stampede: There are a lot of exciting ideas in Racing Royale that have been brought together by the team’s years of experience as racers and free-to-play games.“We’re using all of our experience and knowledge to create this new online karting experience with so many players,”Hollywood said.

Stampede: Racing Royale will be in playtest this summer, with the PC version of the game launching first, with multiple platform releases next year. Check out the full interview below:
