‘Jēkabpils Lūši’ plays RTU / ‘Border Guard’ / ‘Jūrmala’ for the second time of the season

“Jēkabpils Lūši” on Saturday played RTU / “Robežsardze” / “Jūrmala” volleyball players in its field for the second time in the season “Credit24”.

“Jēkabpils Lūši” beat RTU / “Border Guard” / “Jūrmala” for the second time in the season in five sets, this time with 3-2 (25:22, 25:21, 25:27, 23:25, 15:12).

Kristaps Schmidt had a good game for the home team, who scored five out of 27 points in the block and two with a serve. Pāvels Jemeļjanovs scored 13 points, three of them accumulating in a block, 12 points – Armands Āboliņš, who had two points with a serve and a block, and ten points, two of which – in a block, for Zigurds Adamovičs.

Aleksandrs Avdejevs answered with 24 points, but Gatis Garklāvs scored 22 points, both gaining five points each.

Daugavpils residents from Daugavpils University / “Ezerzeme” team do not participate in both weekend games, because after the Covid-19 outbreak in Daugavpils it is not allowed to host home games.

In October, in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, Latvian clubs in the “Credit24” championship meet only with each other. Future games will be decided at a meeting of national volleyball federations.

On Sunday, “Jēkabpils Lūši” will host the “Biolars” / “Jelgava” team.

This year, ten teams from Estonia (five from Estonia (Tartu “Bigbank”, “Parnu”, “Saaremaa”, Tallinn “Selver” and “TalTech”), four from Latvia (Daugavpils University / “Ezerzeme”, RTU) participate in the men’s competition “Credit24”. / “Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, “Jēkabpils Lūši” and “Biolars” / “Jelgava”), and among the participants there are again Lithuanian representatives – Klaipeda “Amber Volley”.

At the end of March this year, due to the spread of Covid-19, the organizers of the tournament decided not to play in the “Final four” tournament, as a result of which the champions were not crowned.

In the semi-finals on March 13, “Lynx” had to play with “Saaremaa” represented by Arta Caica, and Tartu “Bigbank” – with “Selver” from Tallinn.
