The administrative board of the Jehovah’s Witnesses presented the offices where they carry out the translation of bible publications to the wayuu indigenous language in the municipality of Riohacha, capital of La Guajira.
The facilities functioned as the headquarters of the organization that started the remote interpreting processwhich allowed them to develop the old testament, since there are Wayuu witnesses within the team.
Now they are concentrating on the translation of the book of Saint Matthew until Revelation, postulates that make up the biblical new testamentin accordance with Eduardo de la Ossa, member of the Christian community and spokesperson for it in the Caribbean Region.
Witnesses stated that the objective with these new facilities is continue to replicate the messages of the Bible to the Wayuunaiki language, native to the Wayuu ethnic group.
Likewise, they calculate that some 700.000 personas belong to this community, which are among the Caribbean coast of Colombia and Venezuela.
“We are sure that the facilities will allow educational work to be carried out in the Wayuu language, in addition to contributing to the teaching development carried out by Jehovah’s Witnesses with this population,” commented Henry Lunaspokesperson for the La Guajira region.
The building has a recording booth and with different technological tools such as a digital library and specialized software. It also has a wide internet network that facilitates remote work and an electrical network that will help translators can carry out their work without interruption.
Translated documents and those that are still being developed are distributed for free to people who wish to learn about biblical texts.
