Currently, the Canadian is on the road on the sidelines of a long trip of seven games. There was the match in Boston yesterday and the second duel of the course in the land of Uncle Sam is in Chicago.
However, it is important to note that the club’s VP, Jeff Gorton, was in Boston yesterday (in his corner of the country), but is not in Chicago at this time. He won’t be in Phoenix in the next few days either. He will be there in Dallas.
Why? Because Jeff Gorton is currently in New York, where he spent the last 15 years of his life, in order to take the interviews for the position of GM of the Canadiens to the next level.
As François Gagnon told RDS during the first intermission of the Canadiens game, the second round of the DG search process at CH began this morning.
Gorton is therefore in New York to conduct the second-round interviews, probably in person. He could come back to Montreal if necessary for candidates who are in Quebec, for example.
Gagnon estimates that there would be between four and six candidates still “alive” in the process. He didn’t name any names, so it’s unclear who is among them.

Since Gorton is physically in New York, we do not know if he will be accompanied by other members of the famous committee to make his choice or if he goes it alone for the rest of things.
The process is coming to an end, therefore.
Prolongation
If there is a tie, a third round may be necessary to decide between candidates.
It remains to be seen when the new person would be appointed. Would it be during the trip or would we wait to be able to present it in Montreal, after the games in the United States?
