Jeff Bezos soon to own an NFL team?

Jeff Bezos, the third richest man on the planet and chairman of the board of Amazon, is reportedly increasingly considering getting his hands on the Washington Commanders, and is about to make an offer.

The Washington Post, which the billionaire also owns, reported Thursday that the 59-year-old had hired investment firm Allen & Company. This one has already participated in the sales of the Denver Broncos last year, and the Carolina Panthers in 2018.

With his estimated fortune of $119 billion, Bezos would have no trouble putting in a better bid than any suitor. The Commanders are said to be for sale, owner Dan Snyder having indicated in December that he wanted to divest himself of the franchise.

The businessman has been trying to acquire an NFL team since 2019, and has already created a partnership with rapper Jay-Z and another investor in November.

According to the renowned magazine Forbes, the Commanders would be the sixth most valuable team in the Goodell circuit, being valued at $5.6 billion. Snyder bought it in 1999 for $800 million.
