Jeff Bezos, founder of the e-commerce company Amazon, intends to move his residence from Seattle on the west coast of the United States to Miami on the other side of the country, to be near his parents and his company specializing in space exploration, Blue Origin.
Bezos, who launched Amazon from the garage of his rented home in the Bellevue suburb of Seattle in 1994 to the global level, announced the decision in a post on Instagram that included a video clip of him touring one of his company’s oldest warehouses when he was just an online bookseller, before It turns it into a retail and cloud computing giant.
“I’ve lived in Seattle longer than I’ve lived anywhere else, and I have a lot of great memories here,” Bezos wrote. But I want to be close to my parents, who recently moved back to Miami, where I grew up. Blue Origin’s operations are also increasingly shifting to Cape Canaveral. For that, I plan to return to Miami.”
The American billionaire added: “Although this step is exciting, it is an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always be a piece of my heart.”
It is noteworthy that Amazon’s rapid growth has led to the reshaping of Seattle, especially the South Lake Union area, where the company’s headquarters are located. Its rise has helped turn the city into a technology hub, bringing an influx of high-paid tech workers to the area, which has pushed up real estate and rent prices.
