One of the world’s most famous guitarists has died at the age of 78. “On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly falling ill with bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday,” Jeff Beck’s representatives posted online.
“He was a brilliant, iconic, brilliant guitarist – there will never be another Jeff Beck,” Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi tweeted.

He has collaborated with artists such as: Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Mick Jagger, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder and ZZ Top.
According to the AP, Beck belonged to the pantheon of late ’60s rock guitarists, alongside the likes of Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. “Jeff Beck is the best guitarist in the world,” Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry told The New York Times in 2010, “someone like him only comes around once in a generation or two.”
Beck has won eight Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once with the Yardbirds in 1992 and once as a solo artist in 2009.
