In IIHS (American Highway Safety Institute) safety tests, Jeep Wrangler has disappointed the brand’s enthusiasts by receiving a bad mark from the testers.
The four-door Jeep Wrangler failed in the IIHS tests again this time. It would be more correct to say “overturned”, because this is exactly what happened in the test where the car must meet a frontal obstacle. The Jeep overturned in a low-impact impact, and although the safety frame withstood and the safety systems worked, the Wrangler was rated low.
IIHS experts noted that off-road overturning poses a risk of additional injury to off-road passengers. Due to the fact that the car is equipped with removable door and roof sections, there is a possibility that in the event of an accident, passengers and the driver can simply be thrown out of the cabin.
Even more sad is the fact that these were repeated tests that took place after Stellantis made improvements to the Wrangler’s design after a failure in the first tests, in which the SUV overturned sideways, as it did this time.
