Jeddah: The Saudi government formed the Development Authority with the aim of making Jeddah the best city in the world. The current “Jeddah Governorate Project Management Office” will be transformed into a Development Authority. The decision on this was made on Tuesday in a cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman at the Al Salam Palace in Jeddah. The Authority’s board of directors is chaired by Crown Prince Amir Mohammed bin Salman.
Governor of Mecca, Vice Governor of Mecca, Minister of Culture, Governor of Jeddah, Minister of Commerce, Minister of Tourism, Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Eng. The cabinet also decided to appoint Ibrahim Bin Muhammad Al-Sultan and the mayor of Jeddah as members of authority. The governor of Mecca, the deputy governor and the mayor of Jeddah thanked King Salman and the crown prince for the decision to establish the Jeddah Development Authority.
Mecca Governor Amir Khalid Al-Faisal said the order to change the Jeddah Governorate Project Office to the Jeddah Development Authority reflects the historic state of Jeddah city, the gateway to pilgrims. The governor of Mecca also said that Jeddah will strengthen its position as the new face of economic, cultural and tourism development. Mecca’s deputy governor Ameer Badr bin Sultan said the establishment of the Jeddah Development Authority will strengthen efforts to make Jeddah one of the top 100 cities in the world. Jeddah Mayor Salih Alturki stressed that the Jeddah Development Authority will help achieve a qualitative leap in the development of Jeddah city, strengthening the economic situation of the city, diversifying sources of income, providing job opportunities, consolidating government agency activities and overcoming obstacles.
Jeddah will improve the quality of life in the city. it will have a significant impact on achieving the goals of the “Vision 2030”. The mayor said it is possible to get a seat in the top 100 livable cities in the world.
