Jecheon City successfully concludes ’24 KBL Cup professional basketball tournament

【Chungbuk Break News】Reporter Lim Chang-yong = Jecheon City announced that the ‘2024 KBL Cup Professional Basketball Tournament’ held at the Jecheon Indoor Gymnasium for 9 days from October 5 to 13 was successfully concluded.

The winner of the competition was ‘Wonju DB‘, and the runner-up was ‘Suwon KT‘, and they received 50 million won and 30 million won in prize money, respectively. The MVP of the tournament was Wonju DB’s ‘Onuaku’, who was awarded a prize of 3 million won.

As this tournament was held for the first time in the Chungcheong region, which does not have a professional basketball team, attention was focused on the success of the tournament.

As a result, it was a great success, attracting more than 10,000 visitors over 9 days, and especially on weekends, it caused a basketball boom in Jecheon City to the extent that standing tickets were sold due to the lack of seats in the Jecheon Gymnasium, which can accommodate 2,000 people.

Jecheon Mayor Kim Chang-gyu said, “The direct economic effect through this tournament is expected to reach 1.5 billion won,” and “We will continue to attract high-quality games to meet the expectations of Jecheon citizens who are eager to watch professional games.” He said.

Meanwhile, KBL said, “We are grateful for Jecheon citizens’ high interest in professional basketball,” and donated a total of 24 million won worth of goods, including electronic display boards, for the development of sports in Jecheon City.
