Jean-Rostand College Launches Defense Class for Fourth-Grade Students to Learn about Military Schools in Draguignan

Take care of yourself! From the start of the school year in September, new fourth-grade students from Jean-Rostand College will set off to discover the military schools of Draguignan.

Jean-Luc Raguz, the principal of the school and Colonel Alain Pontoglio signed, Monday, June 5, an agreement formalizing the opening of a “defense class”.

Meeting with brothers in arms

Rest assured, there will be no early morning wake-up call or stress test. “The goal is not to train young people, but to make them aware of the spirit of Defense, as well as its challenges”says Colonel Alain Pontoglio.

Thus, thirty-eight students will volunteer to meet soldiers, take part in memorial ceremonies or even study republican values during school hours.

The group will be supervised throughout the year by a teacher of French, physical education and sports as well as history and geography, Ms. Garcia, project leader.

The same thing at Ferrié College

The device is not new to Dragon City. A similar partnership was already concluded in 2018 with the General Ferrié college. It then benefited fourteen students.

It is also very similar to the Defense Cadets program… The latter, intended for ninth-grade students, takes place on two Wednesday afternoons per month, outside school holidays.

Young people practice sports, participate in citizenship courses, patriotic ceremonies or even discover the professions of the armed forces.
