Jean-Michel Barate is made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters

Jean-Michel Barate, the first deputy mayor of Anglet, was appointed Knight of the National Order of Arts and Letters, by appointment of the President of the Republic, on Friday, January 1, 2021. He joins some prestigious names like Céline Dion, Dimitri from Paris, Jean Dujardin, Jean-Christophe Rufin, Macha Béranger, Jane Birkin, Axel Bauer.

Former parliamentary attaché, he is in charge of Culture in Anglet. Jean-Michel Barate is also the president of the Public Establishment of Cultural Cooperation (ex-National Scene) of South Aquitain since July 2020, after having chaired the National Scene from 2004 to 2014. The man was also at the head of the Music festival in the Basque Coast until 2017. He has been elected in Anglet since 1977.
