Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the members of the National Ready-Mixed Concrete Union (SNBPE), meeting in a General Assembly, elected Jean-Marie Modica, 61, as president of the union. He succeeds Jean-Marc Golberg who hands over after 2 consecutive mandates.

Newly elected, Jean-Marie Modica aims to promote low-carbon concrete solutions and the reuse of deconstruction concrete to enable the sector to respond to the challenges of RE 2020. Jean-Marie Modica has spent most of his career in the concrete sector, where he exercised all operational and managerial functions. Sales director at the end of the 1980s at Béton de France, he became director of the Aquitaine agency in 2002, then director of the South-East region. In 2005, he became regional director for CEMEX Bétons Sud-Est then Sud-Ouest 5 years later. He will hold this position until 2018, when he becomes general director of materials for France South, a scope bringing together 115 BPE production units and 15 aggregate quarries. By becoming president of the SNBPE, Jean-Marie Modica provides Union members with solid knowledge of the sector, but also of the union environment. Director of Unicem (National Union of Quarry Industries and Construction Materials) and of the UNPG (National Union of Aggregate Producers), he is also vice-president of the SNPB (National Union of Concrete Pumping).

A committed roadmap

Jean-Marie Modica wishes to take advantage of his mandate as president to support the arrival on the market of low-carbon concrete solutions, in full development, in order to allow concrete to maintain its position as a “star” material in construction and construction. ‘territory Development. Respectful of the resource economy, it also wishes to develop the recycling and reuse of deconstruction concrete. “To build the city of tomorrow, the entire construction sector will have to face many challenges. My mission, as President of the SNBPE, will be to support members in their responses to the challenges of RE 2020 and even to go beyond. It is about decarbonizing of course, but also about saving water and mineral resources by developing recycling and the circular economy. », underlines Jean-Marie Modica, president of the National Ready-Mixed Concrete Union.
