Los Angeles (AP) – Almost four months after the surprising death of filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée (“Dallas Buyers Club”), forensic medicine in Canada named natural causes as the reason.
Canadian media quoted on Wednesday from a message from Vallée’s family that the 58-year-old had severe arteriosclerosis and suffered cardiac arrest. The Canadian director, producer and screenwriter was found dead in his cabin outside of Quebec City in December.
His sons Alex and Émile Vallée announced on Wednesday that they would still be hearing from people around the world who valued his work and friendship.
Vallée, who grew up in Montreal, celebrated his first successes with films such as “CRAZY – Crazy Life” and “Victoria, the Young Queen”. The international breakthrough came in 2013 with the film drama “Dallas Buyers Club” about an AIDS patient who brought medication to the USA in the 1980s. The film won three Oscars, including Matthew McConaughey for lead actor and Jared Leto for supporting actor.
