The Bigger Picture of Klezmer, Balkan & Yiddish Music
A universe whose richness of sound, its possibilities and its spirit are explored down to the finest details – by the Styrian Klezmore Orchestra, which was founded in 2021 by Ivan Trenev & Moritz Weiß. An orchestra with individual approaches to music, with people who submit to a style that is anything but streamlined. They all contribute to the stylistic and cultural pluralism of the Styrian Klezmore Orchestra: with rhythmically sophisticated melodies from the Balkans, with opulently orchestrated original compositions, with folk songs from the Jewish culture. After a brilliant start at the Friling Festival 2023, we are looking forward to welcoming the orchestra together with the lecturers again this year!

The festival for Klezmer, Yiddish and Eastern European music begins in Fürstenfeld with an opening concert on Friday, May 17th at 8 p.m. This is followed by a 3-day workshop for klezmer music (information, frilingfestival@styrianklezmore.at). Moritz Weiß – a young, local musician is the organizer behind this festival, and he has been able to engage international lecturers. It will certainly be a musical weekend of special importance.
