We are known by many historical names of 20th century jazz styles. When writing their doctoral theses, music historians have carefully divided everything into shelves of different sub-styles. But what did musicians call these trends when they were fresh and innovative? Modern, contemporary, or today’s jazz? How to call the jazz that is being composed today? What will the historians of future generations call it?
