Jazz talentZZ – the long wait and hope has paid off: from June 24th to 26th, 2021, 9 of the most interesting young German jazz projects will play again in Leipzig’s Moritzbastei at the jazztalentzz festival.
After last year, for the first time since 1991, there was no young jazz festival in the Moritzbastei and the traditional date in April fell victim to the lockdown in 2021, the Vernanstalter is looking forward to three days full of joy in playing, youthful courage to experiment and musical improvisation. With -Beck, who among other things, the accordion akut! in Halle / S. successfully leads, there is a new colleague in the festival team, which will continue to be led by Steffen Wilde (Jazzclub Tonne, Dresden).
The nationwide jazz festival for young people has been taking place in Leipzig’s Moritzbastei since 1991. Countless young artists from all over Germany have taken the first steps in their musical careers here. The idea of the festival remains to offer particularly talented young musicians the opportunity to present themselves to an interested audience and the public.
The festival will be expanded this year with the accompanying program, which in 2021 will consist of an online workshop on contractual issues for young musicians. In the future, the supporting program should develop into a networking and exchange platform for jazz musicians during the festival.
What can the audience expect at jazz talentZZ 2021? From chamber music borrowings to the powerful symbiosis of jazz, hip-hop and pop culture, a young, creative and diverse jazz scene presents three exciting evenings worth discovering in Leipzig’s Moritzbastei. A total of nine bands and projects from Weimar, Mainz, Munich, Hanover, Frankfurt / Main, Hamburg and Leipzig will appear on two stages. They were selected from almost 50 submissions from all over Germany in order to each have their own fresh approaches to the world of jazz.
