Jazz returns to Cesis with a concert by Danish Karsten Dal

Very soon, on March 5, a concert for jazz music lovers will take place in the Concert Hall “Cēsis”. After a long break, the Jazz Lounge concert series returns, which will be started by renowned jazz musicians – Karsten Dals from Denmark, Ole Mortens Wagans from Norway and Ivars Arutjunjans from Latvia.

The trio’s concert program combines rhythmic and harmonious moods inspired by 20th century African American music and the impressionistic feelings of the musicians themselves at a particular moment and place, making the concert a unique and unique jazz experience. Carsten Dahl and like-minded people will play music from The Great American Songbook, well-known jazz music standards, and free improvisations.

“I am honored to play the trio of the legendary Danish pianist and painter Karsten Dal. He is one of the best and most renowned jazz pianists in Europe and a true Scandinavian music legend. The trio also includes the outstanding bassist Ole Mortens Wagans. These are some of the best musicians I’ve ever met in the world and playing – their contributions, music and presence will be hard to put into words. I was hoping to bring these two fantastic musicians to Latvia, and now it will be in Cēsis, ”rejoices drummer Ivars Arutjunjans.

Carsten Dahl is considered one of the most innovative and passionate improvisers today. Freely using jazz traditions and combining them with surprising originality and message, he also composes orchestral works and acts as a multi-instrumentalist in his own productions. Dahl has participated in more than 300 recordings, won numerous awards, and received widespread criticism around the world. Ole Morten Vågan is a Norwegian jazz musician and bassist, also known as the conductor of the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Collaborate with the world’s most influential jazz musicians and composers.

Two more concerts are expected in the jazz concert season of the Cēsis Concert Hall in the spring season – on April 10, the Jamison Ross Trio from the USA and on May 7, the Estonian singer, pianist and composer Kadri Voorand in a duet with double bassist Michael Megland.
