This week special jazz evenings will take place in the cultural space “M/Darbnīca”: on November 22, an international “superjam” session will be offered by Latvian saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis, and on November 25, the project “Live at the M/Darbnīca Vol. 1” double vinyl record and then there will be a new double trio concert by saxophonist Kārļis Auziņas.
Already this Wednesday, November 22, a day before the final concert of the new album tour of his international quintet “Abyss” in the Tallinn quarter, a real international “superjam” session “M/Darbnīki” will be offered by Latvian saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis, with the participation of Danish bassist Kenneth Dāls Knudsen, Ukrainian guitarist Igor Osipovs, Latvian keyboard player Rudolf Macat and Danish drummer Matias Fischer.
On the other hand, on Saturday, November 25, the vinyl record of the “Jersika Records” publishing house, which will be available to a wider audience, is a project unprecedented in the history of Latvian jazz, which collects analog tapes of current Latvian and also some foreign colleagues’ concert recordings in the cultural space “M/Darbnīca”. From August of last year to January of this year, a total of 13 jazz concerts were recorded. The double vinyl includes one track from each. After the album presentation (at 19.00), innovative saxophonist Kārlis Auziņš will perform with his new double trio, who will be joined by double bassists Edvīns Ozols and Ęedimins Stepanavičius (Lithuania), as well as drummers Kaspars Kurdeko and Rinalds Maksimovs. “Karlis has created an innovative suite of compositions for such an unusual composition of instruments. The author himself calls it a musical journey, which, through meditative soundscapes, hypnotizing rhythms and energetic passages, encourages the listener to look into himself and find a sense of peace in this experience,” say the concert organizers.
