Jazeera Airways wishes to expand across India

Jazeera Airways said it is keen to expand further into India as it looks forward to acquiring new aircraft and exploring new flight prospects. This announcement comes as the airline celebrates five years of service in South Asia’s largest country .

The Kuwaiti low-cost airline is looking to use its current momentum to continue its push for rapid expansion.

Jazeera Airways was founded in Kuwait in 2004 and started operations in 2005. By 2017, the low-cost airline served 17 destinations with a fleet of seven aircraft.

Since then, the airline has expanded to serve 55 destinations with a fleet of 19 aircraft, despite the pandemic ravaging the travel industry.

Jazeera Airways was one of the first to return to profitability in the second half of 2021 and recently reported net income of 21.76 million KWD ($71 million) for the first nine months of 2022 after carrying 2.6 million of passengers with a load factor of 76.4%.

The airline also added 11 new routes and two new aircraft to its fleet, which is dominated by Airbus and consists of eight A320s and 11 A320neos, this year.

The airline currently has 20 A320neo and eight A321neo on order.

In India, Jazeera Airways currently flies to eight destinations: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram; Jazeera Airways plans to add more destinations in India to its network in the future.
