Jaysean Paige and Paris Bass open the year playing in the NBA | Basketball

The entry of NBA basketmen to the protocol for the prevention of infections with covid-19 has been the showcase for two well-known faces on the Island.

Before the end of 2021, Jaysean Paige and Paris Bass struck ten-day deals to play for the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns, respectively.

Teams have turned to contracts of this type with players from the Development League – also known as the NBA G-League – to fill the void that their baskets have left amid countless suspected cases of coronavirus.

Paige made her debut last night in the Pistons’ overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 117-116. He played seven minutes and finished with a rebound and an assist.

The 27-year-old canastero plays as a native with the Mayagüez Indians in the National Superior Basketball (BSN). He is the son of Lashawn Paige and the Puerto Rican Jessica Echevarría.

Meanwhile, Bass wore the Atlético de San Germán uniform in the last two seasons. He was also the Most Valuable Player of the 2020 campaign, held in a bubble format, in Rio Grande.

In the 2021 season, he averaged 22.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 32 games.

Bass has yet to make his NBA debut.
