Jay-Z’s Library Card Campaign Boosts Attendance at Brooklyn Library

With 14,000 new members since the end of July, attendance at the library in Brooklyn, New York, is exploding. Behind this resurgence in popularity, the rapper Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation, at the origin of a vast communication campaign carried out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

The concept : subscribers can collect 13 limited edition library cards, each adorned with illustrations taken from Jay-Z’s albums. They allow New Yorkers to open a free account at the library until the end of the month.

In parallel, the municipal library launched on July 14 the exhibition Book of Hov, which pays homage to rap. It will be extended until October given its success. ” The enthusiasm of our community for this exhibition proves the immense impact of Jay-Z”, commented Linda E.
