Popular American comedian and presenter Jay Leno (72) is said to have been injured in a crash on Sunday.

Leno is primarily known as the host of America’s most popular talk show, ‘The Tonight Show.’ He directed the program from 1992 to 2014, with a tenure of a few months in 2009 and 2010.
Damaged in a car fire
The former talk show kingpin is very interested in cars and the incident is said to have occurred in Leno’s huge garage in Los Angeles.

One of Leno’s cars is said to have suddenly started burning, and Leno is said to have been injured in the car fire. It is not clear what caused the fire.
Leno will now be in a hospital specializing in burns, according to TMZ.
For Variety Leno himself released a statement:
– I have severe burns from a petrol fire. I’m fine. I just need a week or two to get back on my feet.

The extent of the damage is not known, but organizers of a convention where Leno is alleged to have performed describe the accident as a “major medical emergency”.
In front of celebrity website People confirms the organizer that Leno had to cancel his scheduled appearance due to an accident.

“All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family,” the organizer wrote in an email to People.
The apparatus surrounding Leno did not respond to questions from TMZ or People.
