There is less and less left until the runoff in Argentina to be held on Sunday, November 19. However, a week before the presidential debate in between Sergio Massa y Javier Miley so that candidates present their proposals openly to society. In this framework, from La Libertad Avanza they raised a request to the National Electoral Chamber less than 48 hours from the event.
In the liberal sector they insisted that the candidates be able to have guides, notes or writings on their lecterns as a reference when developing the different topics. This proposal by the national deputy is not new because he made it some time ago and the entity argued that the rules were already established.
Now his representatives have sent this request again to the National Electoral Chamber (CNE) but they have not been successful, so Javier Milei will have to accommodate what has already been agreed with Unión por la Patria and the entity. It should be noted that this debate will be more flexible than the previous one and they will have more time to refute, ask and counterattack, so having data on the table could be a useful resource.
The response of the Electoral Chamber to Javier Milei
As C5N shared, they quickly responded to the La Libertad Avanza candidate to reject his request. “First of all, it should be clarified that the rules set forth in the ‘Debate Regulations 2023 Second Round’ were consented to and accepted by the legal representatives of both candidates,” indicates the entity’s letter.
“It would not be transparent to the public that some of the parties intend to reinterpret the established rules,” concluded Juan Manuel Olmos, head of the CNE in a statement he sent to the representatives of the liberal space, in response to their request. Now we just have to wait for the event that will have both candidates at the UBA as protagonists on November 12.
