Quito (EFE).- The Government currently hopes to receive between nine and 11 authorities to participate in the XXIX Ibero-American Summit, as anticipated in an interview with EFE by Chancellor Gabriela Sommerfeld, who said she trusts that Mexico will be represented.
Less than a month before the celebration of this summit, which will take place on November 14 and 15 in Cuenca, Sommerfeld explained that nine leaders have already confirmed their presence at this event, including the king of Spain, Felipe VI; the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez; and the presidents of Argentina, Javier Miley; Paraguay, Santiago Peña, and Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader.
He also mentioned the vice presidents of El Salvador and Uruguay and the foreign ministers of Chile and Costa Rica.
At the same time, they are awaiting written confirmation from two other heads of state who have verbally expressed their intention to travel to Cuenca.

Will Mexico be present?
Regarding the participation of Mexico, Sommerfeld expressed his confidence that the Government of President Claudia Sheinbaum will send a representation, despite the fact that relations between both countries have been broken since last April following the police assault on the Mexican embassy in Quito to arrest Jorge Glas.
The minister recalled that Mexico has attended several forums and preparatory meetings for the Ibero-American Summit of heads of State and Government, and reiterated its willingness to dialogue to resolve the controversy between both countries. “As through this same medium (EFE) “I expressed several months ago, Ecuador has always been ready to sit down and talk about the entire situation that both countries experienced and with the truth on the table to find solutions,” commented Sommerfeld.
