The President of the Nation, Javier Milei, is evaluating transferring the management of the presidential planes to the Armed Forces. The president’s decision implies that the Presidency will no longer have to be responsible for the maintenance costs of the aircraft.
According to official sources, the vehicles will be in the hands of the Air Force, headed by Major Brigadier Fernando Luis Mengo, who was appointed by the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri.
The presidential initiative has to do with all the planes destined for the Casa Rosada being transferred in the coming days. This also includes the Boeing 757-256 that the management of former president Alberto Fernández had purchased last year.
The fleet consists of two aircraft, the Boeing 757 (ARG 01) and one Boeing 737 (ARG 02) and three helicopters, one Black Hawk S70 (ARG 10), one Sikorsky S 76 (ARG 11) and one Sikorsky S 76 ( ARG 12).
Based on this determination by the Government, the Armed Forces will have the maintenance and operational management of the fleet, although the President may use the aircraft for transportation if required.
The Boeing 757 that former President Fernández bought has been in service for less than a year and is located at Aeroparque. Milei had chosen not to use it as a result of his austerity policy.

“The intention is to transfer the fleet of aircraft to the Air Force, so the pertinent audits and surveys continue to be carried out to continue compliance with the order of the President of the Nation,” said presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni. in social networks.
Along these lines, the President’s spokesperson clarified: “Although the fleet is already operated and maintained by Air Force personnel, the truth is that today it formally depends on the General Secretariat of the Presidency.”
