Javier Mascherano will assume a position in National Teams of the AFA | What’s Up News

Buenos Aires, Jan 5 (EFE) .- Javier Mascherano, former player of Barcelona and the Argentine team, will assume a position within the structure of National Teams of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), it was reported this Tuesday through Twitter of the Albiceleste.

“Javier Mascherano, accompanied by physical trainer Pablo Blanco and Oscar Hernández Romero, will join the structure of National Teams in charge of the Department of Methodology and Development that will be presented in the coming weeks,” the message states.

Two photos were also released on the social network in which the former player is seen meeting with, among others, the president of the AFA, Claudio ‘Chiqui’ Tapia.

Mascherano, 36 years old and known as the ‘Jefecito’, announced that he was retiring on November 15, and already then it was predicted that his future would be linked to the Argentine youth teams from this year, after several conversations with Tapia.

At the time of his dismissal, Mascherano was a player for Estudiantes de La Plata.

“I want to announce that today I am retiring from soccer professionally, I want to thank this club that gave me the opportunity to finish my career in Argentina,” he emphasized when announcing his goodbye as a player.
